Dear Shooters,

The Annual Phoenix meeting will be held at the Bisley Shooting grounds, Surrey, England, on the weekend of the 26th of May till the 28th of May 2017.

This is a great opportunity to travel a modest distance to an “away match” and take part in many of the same sports we do here, aswell as many, many more.

The majority of people take the ferry to Holyhead or Fishguard and drive to Bisley, often with two or three sharing to cut the overall cost and share the driving. There is also the option to fly and hire a car.

This Phoenix Meeting also includes the GB leg of the IGRF International series, where Ireland will be competing with the other IGRF members in the Smallbore 1500 and Centrefire 1500 Gallery Rifle Events.

Traditionally Irish shooters arrive on the Thursday and participate in three days of very enjoyable and competitive competition. The competition covers many disciplines including gallery rifle, target shotgun, classic rifle and f-class shooting.

The NASRPC has reserved a number of beds in Canada house, on range in Bisley, at £38 per bed/night.

Any person who would like to stay in Canada House, please email vicechair@nasrpc.ie to reserve a bed. These beds will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Alternative accommodation is also available at local hotels and B&Bs.

Obviously you will need UK Police permits for any firearms you wish to bring with you.

The UK has different firearms restrictions to here – so if you are unsure – please contact us to confirm what is applicable.

NASRPC will also be asked, by NRA, to give a reference for those competing, so please let us know in advance if you intend to attend the meeting, so we can have all relevant paperwork prepared.

NASRPC will co-ordinate permit applications for those that wish it – Further information will be available early in February.

In the meantime, ensure you have an Irish License to cover the duration of travel as well as a European Firearms Permit, for the same time period  – for all firearms required.

If you have any queries about attending the competition please feel free to contact vicechair@nasrpc.ie and we will be glad to help.
