A big thank you to everyone at East Coast Shooting Club for hosting the latest Sanctioned National Match. There was some cracking shooting in the rifle events, with plenty of PBs recorded. Lough Bo’s Francis Brady had a particularly impressive day, including a 400.032 possible in Open Field Sporting Rifle 50m, as well as PBs in Heavy and Light Varmint Benchrest. The home club were well represented too. Sean McElwain shot PBs of 397.028 at 50m and 397.013 at 100m Field Sporting Rifle, while Sandy Wilson took the Open 100m with a PB of 396.022. Sean Marnane, Liam Daly, James Daly and Tamas Szoke were among the other East Coast shooters putting new PBs on the board.
There was no shortage of good shooting in the pistol and Gallery Rifle events either. Harbour House’s Louis McMahon had a superb competition, including a PB of 296.012 in Smallbore T&P1 and 109.008 in Smallbore Multi Target, while Pawel Zak came within a whisker of the possible with 299.015 in Open Smallbore T&P1. Eamonn Toal showed he is every bit as handy with a pistol as a rifle, shooting a PB of 273.002 in Smallbore 25m Precision and earning promotion to A Class. There were also PBs and promotions throughout the field, with some excellent scores from established competitors and newer names alike. Congratulations to everyone who picked up a medal, PB or promotion, and thanks again to East Coast and everyone who helped make the competition happen.
