Thanks to all competitors who travelled to Bracken Shooting Club for the March competition. The event brought together shooters from across the country for an excellent competition, with several competitors achieving new personal bests (PBs) and standout performances across a number of disciplines.
In the Field Sporting Rifle 50m Prone (FSPR50) event, Bracken’s Tony McGinley led the way in Class A, taking gold with a superb PB of 396.022. BRC’s Anthony Fagan secured silver while Donegal’s Michael Folan claimed bronze. In Class B, Jason Coll shot a PB of 365.007 to take gold, while Donegal junior David Wheatley topped Class C with a PB of 357.005.
Moving to FSPR100, Patsy McGonagle delivered a strong performance in Class B with a PB of 386.010, earning gold and promotion to Class A. In the Open Field Sporting Rifle matches, Ronald Mupfupi impressed in OFSPR50, shooting a PB of 379.010 to take gold and secure promotion to Class B.
The BR50 Light Varmint match saw Anthony Fagan take gold with 483.011, followed by Michael McLoone in silver and Tony McGinley in bronze. Further down the field, Michael Folan and Paul Benham each recorded new PBs.
In pistol competition, the Smallbore Pistol 25m Precision (SBP25P) match saw Daniel Kowalczyk of Harbour House Sports Club take gold in Class A ahead of Donall McGroary and Bracken’s Noel Maguire. In Class B, Pawel Zak shot a PB of 275.005 to claim gold and earn promotion to Class A.
The Smallbore Pistol Multi Target (SBPMT) event saw Frank Cullen take gold in Class X, while Donall McGroary secured silver with a PB. Marie Fagan topped Class A and the Ladies category.
In Smallbore Gallery Rifle Multi Target (GRSBMT), Kyle Kelly of Lough Bo Shooting Centre delivered an excellent performance in Class C, taking gold with a PB of 98.004, while Marie Fagan secured silver. In Class D, Norman Ogilby shot a PB of 102.006 to claim gold and earn promotion to Class C.
The competition saw shooters from Bracken and beyond push their limits and raise the standard across the board. With a number of PBs recorded over the weekend, the event was both competitive and rewarding for competitors.

The next event scheduled is at Donegal Target Club on 4th April which is a 1500 match only. That’s followed by a sanctioned match for Hilltop taking place on 18th and 19th April at the Midlands National Shooting Centre of Ireland.
