There has been an awful lot going on here at NASRPC headquarters lately, but we did not want people to think we had forgotten about all those that travelled from our wee island to compete in the Phoenix Meeting in Bisley Shooting Grounds, England at the end of May.
The Phoenix is a very large event – and always attracts some interest from the Emerald Isle. This year that interest appears to have been a bit less than previous years, but plenty did compete.
As always NASRPC provided up to date classification information to the NRA, in the run up to the event, on any competitors.
NASRPC also entered Irish Teams in both the IGRF GRCF Team International event and the IGRF GRSB Team International event.
We shared photos from the NRA on Facebook, as the four day weekend progressed, and we were all able to see the scores, as they happened, been periodically published online.
It looks like it was a great weekend for the NRA, and a huge shout out should go to all the Range Officers and the competitors alike. Not least, those from our own homeland with lots of PBs shot.
The Irish Teams took Bronze in both the IGRF International team events. Germany took Silver in the GRSB Event – with a VERY strong showing by Great Britain to take the Gold. Great Britain took Silver in the GRCF Event – with an impressive score from Germany taking the Gold.
A highlight for the whole weekend was Harbour House’s Mark Nolan, taking no less than 8 Individual Gold Medals as well as taking an International Team Bronze for both Irish Teams, all while being Captain of the GRCF Team.
I think it’s fair to say that Mark eats his wheeties on a morning! Long may it continue.
You can review the full results here: https://nra.org.uk/competitions/phoenix/
So thank you to the NRA for running the event, Bisley for hosting it, the ROs for making it possible, and the competitors for making it one of the highlights of the Target Shooting Calendar so far.
The NASRPC will have its own International event, hosted by Fermoy Rifle and Pistol Club this coming weekend (4 to 6 July) where you all have an opportunity to test your mettle on an individual basis and where the Irish Teams will again battle it out for the IGRF honours!
