Visitor Permits for travelling to Northern Ireland or Britain to compete

Anyone wishing to bring their Firearms to either Northern Ireland (or Britain) for competitions (or hunting) requires a visitor permit from the relevant police force to do so.

NASRPC will be holding our annual Irish Open in Bracken, Strabane, Co. Tyrone this year.

This is the first time the Open will have been held in Northern Ireland and will be a great event.

So….. You need a visitor permit from the PSNI…… how do you go about it?

It is quite simple actually and very efficient.

NASRPC will collect application information and – once a month, starting at the end of January – we will push this through your sponsor in Bracken to the PSNI. This will allow us to avail of bulk discounts.

NASRPC will pay the application fee (£16 GBP) on your behalf and collect it from you at Registration for the Irish Open or intervening event.

So send us the following information – to competitions@nasrpc.ie

  • Name
  • Home Address
  • Phone number (incl. Intl code)
  • Scan of both sides of all licenses you wish to have on your visitor permit (ensuring that none of the expire before end August)
  • Scan of all pages of your European Firearms Pass

We will store this data securely, only until you inform us that your Visitor Permit has arrived, at which point we will destroy the data.

Your PSNI visitor permit will be valid for one calendar year, or until any of the Irish licenses on it expire, whichever is first.

This will mean you can also attend other competitions in Northern Ireland such as the match to be held on the Ballykinler ranges in Co. Down in August.

If you do not have a European Firearms Pass yet – simply drop into your local Garda station with passport photos and your licenses – tell them you want a European Firearms Pass – and that’s it – they will take some details, have you sign some stuff, provide the photos and you are done.

It will have to be signed by senior Gardai – so will come out to you in a few days.

We highly recommend that everyone tries to have their visitor permits in hand before Brexit in March – after which, we can expect delays – so please do not delay in getting us the information.

If you have any questions or issues  …. please feel free to contact us.
