Irish Shooters Secure Double Bronze at Phoenix Meeting 2026, Bisley

The Phoenix Meeting remains one of the major fixtures in the UK gallery rifle calendar, and as always it attracted Irish participation across a wide range of disciplines. While numbers from Ireland appeared slightly reduced compared to some previous years, those who did make the journey put in a strong showing across all events.

As usual, NASRPC provided up-to-date classification data to the National Rifle Association in advance of the competition, helping ensure smooth entry and grading for competitors throughout the weekend.

Across the Smallbore, Centrefire, Open, and TSG events, Irish shooters recorded a wide range of excellent performances, including numerous personal bests and class-leading scores. Standout performances included:

  • Frank Feeney delivering consistently strong top-end scores, including leading results in both precision and timed formats
  • Mark Nolan producing high-level performances across multiple disciplines, including a standout 1020 score in Smallbore
  • Gareth Kerr and David Cully both featuring prominently in Open and Centrefire events with strong timed and precision results
  • Shaun Bull, Patrick Grimes, and Liam Flynn all recording solid class performances and PBs across Smallbore disciplines
  • Rachael Byrne and Stephen Wall continuing to build consistency across the longer-format matches
  • A strong spread of results from across clubs nationwide, reflecting the depth of participation in this year’s match

Particularly encouraging was the number of personal bests recorded across the weekend, with competitors continuing to improve across both precision and multi-target disciplines.

The Irish Teams also competed in the International Gallery Rifle Federation (IGRF) team events during the meeting.

Overall, it was another well-run and enjoyable weekend of competition at Bisley, and thanks are due to the National Rifle Association, the Range Officers, and all volunteers who ensured the event ran smoothly throughout.

Most importantly, congratulations to all competitors who travelled and represented Irish shooting with determination and consistency across a demanding and competitive programme.
